Boxing Description
Changing Faces of Boxing
The fame of boxing is nothing new. Truly speaking it has been existing since the pre historic days as the finest notion of combat sport, in which two participants (in particular) of similar weight fight each other with the help of their fists. This tradition, as is learnt, was prominent in several cultures and with many informal forms of boxing throughout the centuries. But it is also true that boxing has gone throgh severa tumultuous ages. For instance, it was in 393 A.D., when the Olympics were banned by the Christian emperor Theodosius, and in 500 A.D., boxing was banned altogether by Theodoric the Great as being an insult to God because it disfigures the face, the image of God. However, this edict had a minimal effect outside the sphere of the major cities of the Eastern Empire. The reason is, since by this time Western Europe was no longer part of the Roman Empire, and for that the concept of boxing remained a chrished sport in Europe throughout the Middle Ages and beyond.
